		<description>I just stopped by to point out that the two slashes are not compulsory, Perl will actually allow you to specify any character you like as the start and end condition. This helps get rid of the &quot;leaning toothpick syndrome&quot; that appears when you try and match filepaths, eg:

   m#/mypic.png#;
or

  m!/mypic.png!;

or you can use matching parentheses:

  m{/mypic.png};
